Kenneth D. King is a couture fashion designer based in New York City. He specializes in custom evening wear, and his designs appear in the permanent collections of leading museums, including the L. A. County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. King is also an author and Contributing Editor at Threads Magazine. Along with all of this, he’s a professor of haute couture at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
King's books combine story with sewing technique and are aimed at the 1/6 scale fashion doll. These books cross genres, combining stories of the dolls along with sewing techniques.
His earlier books are: Designer Techniques (Sterling Publishing, 1996), Designer Bead Embroidery (Quarto Publishing, 2006), Cool Couture (Creative Publishing, 2008), Smart Fitting Solutions (Taunton Press, 2017), Doll Couture (Taunton Press, 2023), as well as eleven self-published books on CD covering different couture garment construction topics.
